Herculaneum Post Office

The Herculaneum Post Office is located at 1234 Commercial Blvd. (US Hwy 61-67). The zip code for Herculaneum is 63048. Residents that reside on Riverview or Mississippi Drives have mail delivered by Festus, Missouri. The zip code for Festus is 63028. The Post office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Saturdays 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The post office phone number is (636) 937-7220.

Herculaneum Library

The new Library is located at 345 Curved St. in Herculaneum. There is no charge for residents for a library card. Non residents will be charged a $10.00 library card fee annually for individual or family. The library hours are Summer: Monday 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday 3:00 to 5:00 PM, and Thursday 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Winter: Monday 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Tuesday 3:00 to 5:00 PM, and Thursday 3:00 to 5:00 PM. The library is closed on Wednesdays and Fridays. The library phone number is (636) 479-9164.

Library Cards

Library cards are available to anyone living or owning property in the city limits of Herculaneum FREE OF CHARGE.

  • Application for a Herculaneum Public Library card must be made in person. Proper identification and proof of residency or ownership is required.
  • Library cards will be issued to children six years of age or enrolled in the first grade. Children under the age of 16 must have the signature or a parent or guardian.
  • Individuals and families living outside the city limits of Herculaneum may purchase a library card for $10.00 renewable annually. Non-resident families will be issued one card per family. Non-resident senior citizens (62 and over) may purchase a library card for $5.00 renewable annually.
  • Library cards are not transferable.

Lost Cards

There will be a $1.00 charge for a lost cards the first time, $2.00 the second time and $5.00 for each additional time.

Responsibility of Borrower

A borrower is responsible for the return of all materials by the specified date and in good condition. There is a charge for overdue, lost, damaged or non-returned materials. All library privileges will be suspended until all fines and fees are paid.

Borrowing Period

Materials may be checked out for a period of fourteen days. You may renew ONE TIME for an additional two weeks as long as materials are not overdue or on reserve for another patron.

  • Materials that are not overdue or on reserve may be renewed by telephone.
  • Overdue materials ARE NOT renewable by telephone.

The maximum number of books that can be borrowed at one time is five (5) books per individual.

Fines & Fees

Fines for overdue books will be five (5) cents per day, per book. Fines for overdue periodicals will be ten (10) cents per day, per periodical.

Fees for lost books and materials will be the current replacement cost. Fees for damaged books and materials will be assessed on an individual basis.

Return of Materials

The return of all borrowed library materials should be made during the scheduled hours of library operation. If not possible, a book and library materials return bin is located at the rear door of the library. Library books may also be returned to City Hall, if there are no outstanding fines or fees.

Reserves

Patrons may ask that a new arrival or currently loaned book or material be reserved for them. The books or materials will be held for 3 days at the desk, after notification by phone. If not called for by the end of the third day, the material will be given to the next person on the reserve list. Reserved materials may not be renewed.

Reference Materials

Books and library materials marked REFERENCE are for in library use ONLY. Reference materials cannot be borrowed.

Donations of Materials

The library accepts donations of like new hardback and soft cover books and other materials. Materials not needed for the library may be offered for sale or donated to a book fair project.

Computers & Internet

Computer and internet access are available at the library. Patrons will be given a copy of the library’s internet access policy and will be required to read and sign an internet agreement. Patrons under 18 years of age must have the agreement signed by a parent or guardian. Users between the ages of 13 and 17 may use the internet unaccompanied with written permission from a parent or guardian.
